For beauty businesses

Everyone is price shopping right now.

Every client booking nails or lashes this month is comparing a few girls before she messages anyone. You can feel it in your DMs, and most techs are answering it the same way, by quietly shaving money off their prices. I want to walk you through why that's the wrong read of what's happening, and what actually wins the client who's comparing.

I look at how beauty businesses show up online for work, and the thing I keep hearing this year, from techs in completely different towns, is that clients got careful. They compare more, they ask the price sooner, they book later. All of that is real. Where almost everyone goes wrong is what they think a careful client is looking for.

Quick disclosure. I do the marketing for Weblingo, so this page is an ad. Everything here is free to do and works whether you ever talk to us or not.

01
Her side of it

What a price shopper is actually shopping for

Think about the girl doing the comparing, because she's not who the price wars assume she is. Money is tight for her too, and that's exactly why she's careful. If she spends $50 on a set and it lifts in 4 days, she can't shrug and book somewhere else, that $50 mattered. She's been burned before. Everyone has the story about the cheap set that cost them twice.

So when she's got a few profiles open, she isn't hunting the lowest number. She's hunting the one she won't regret. The lowest price with 2 photos and no reviews doesn't read as a bargain to her, it reads as a gamble, and this is not the month she can afford gambles. Cheap only wins the comparison when everything else looks the same, and everything else almost never looks the same.

She isn't hunting the lowest number. She's hunting the one she won't regret.

02
Your side of it

The client you win on price alone was never yours

Now run your side of the same move. Say you drop your sets from $55 to $45 because bookings slowed. You just gave up $10 on every client you already had to chase the ones you don't, and across a normal week that's your supplies, or your share of the rent, gone. In a month where everyone's already stretching fills a week longer, you handed back the only margin you had.

And the client the discount wins was never really yours. She came for the number, so she leaves for a number, and somebody in your town will always be willing to print a smaller one. Chasing her down in price gets you a full chair and an empty account, and you can't out-cheap a girl who's still doing practice sets at her kitchen table.

03
The safe choice

The things that settle her are boring

Here's what actually ends her comparing, and none of it is glamorous. Photos of real clients from the last few weeks, on different hand shapes and skin tones, not saved inspo. Reviews that are recent and mention real things, that the set lasted the full 3 weeks, that you fixed a nail for free without attitude. And the price, posted, where she can find it in 5 seconds.

The price one is where I lose half of you, because hiding prices feels strategic. You think if she has to message you first, you get a chance to win her over before the number scares her. But she has 4 girls open and limited patience. "DM for prices" doesn't feel exclusive from her side, it feels like effort, and careful people assume a hidden number is a big number. She doesn't argue with your profile, she just closes it and books one of the girls who told her.

In a comparing market the visible price also does quiet work for you. The girl who can afford you books without a conversation. The girl who can't never messages you asking if you can do anything cheaper, and you never have to type out a polite no at 11pm again.

Careful people assume a hidden number is a big number.

The deal

Decide where the deal lives

None of this means the deal hunters get nothing. It means you decide where the deal lives, instead of letting every DM turn into a small negotiation. 1 first-visit price, posted, with your real price sitting right next to it and the reason said out loud. New clients, first full set $45, regular $60. She gets her deal, you get her in the chair, and nobody haggled for anything.

Her deal is right there, next to the real price. Nothing to negotiate, nothing hidden.

2 rules keep it clean. The posted deal is the only deal, so when someone messages asking if you can do better, the answer is a link back to it. And the deal's real job happens at the end of the appointment, when she's happy with her nails and you ask if she wants the same time in 3 weeks. First visit at the deal price, second visit at yours. If the work held up, she's not going back to comparing strangers over $15, because now you're the one she's sure about.

The season, honestly

I'll be straight about the market, because pretending it's fine is how you end up blaming yourself for it. Clients are booking less often and stretching everything longer right now, and no move on this page makes a tight month feel like December. What you control is the comparison. Somebody near you is still getting booked every single day this week, by careful girls choosing carefully, and most of your competition is answering that with $5 off and a hidden price list.

The 30-second version of you, the recent work, the reviews, the posted prices, the booking that doesn't need a conversation, is the thing we build with beauty businesses at Weblingo.
